What is Landing Performance on EFB
From the very beginning, the pilot has access to a real-time flight briefing that enhances situational awareness for the journey ahead, including the OFP, weather, fuel orders, NOTAMs, airfields, charts, and more.
Once the pilots have reviewed their briefing, they can move on to the aircraft journey log.
An aircraft Journey Log on the skybook EFB application, is a streamlined workflow to support the flight phase process.
It syncs seamlessly with the co-pilot and transmits data back to the ground, ensuring complete utilisation of voyage information.
Before we jump into the ins and outs of the aircraft Journey Log, it is worth mentioning that all fields and title sections on the EFB solution, are fully customisable to the operators needs.
Meaning fields can instantly be renamed and hidden to your requirements. This can be easily done by a super admin user within the main settings of skybook.
The first part of the aircraft Journey Log begins with Pre-flight.
This can include sections such as:
Pre-journey log / Diary, Fuel (actual block fuel, planned fuel uplift, minimum fuel required, tankering, etc), ATIS / ATC Clearance, Crew information, sign off pre-flight and last minute changes.
Pre-flight features include the option to use the iPad camera, to capture a fuel slip or ATIS and ATC clearance.
Crew roster integration simplifies crew selection, allowing easy assignment of roles such as deadheading and commander.
Fields can be made mandatory and these are chosen by the operator. The mandatory fields that aren’t filled in, are prompted in a list to the pilot when they attempt to sign off the Pre-flight section. Providing an easy way to navigate to the incomplete fields.
Once the Pre-flight is complete, the dispatcher is made aware on the Dispatch system, by receiving a status update for the specific flight. This improves communication and awareness between the ground and flight deck.
The dispatcher also receives updates about any fuel order requests, and fuel orders can automatically send to a specific fuel provider direct from the EFB application if required.
Now onto the In-flight phase of the aircraft Journey Log…
This may include sections such as:
Off Blocks, Delays, Loadsheet / APU, Ground Services, Anti-ice, RVSM check, landing performance and Nav Log.
Delay information is automatically calculated from the airborne time in comparison to the original ETD. With the ability to easily add the delay code which ground teams can review using the on-time performance analysis on the skybook Ground Portal.
The camera functionality can be used to capture load sheets, and receipts for any ground services or anti-ice.
Nav log waypoint data is automatically taken from the OFP, with the timings adjusted in the event of a delay. This includes options to enter route direct, squawk, diversion details, and frequency.
Lastly let’s cover the Post-flight section of the EFB application.
This includes: Arrival ATIC and Clearance, Landing times and On-Blocks, Approach CAT, Handling Pilot, Landing / Cycles, Fuel, Comments and Sign-off Sector.
Once the Post-flight section is signed off, that completes the flight and all of the aircraft Journey Log data is transmitted to the Record Vault and Reporting & Analytics modules within the skybook Ground Portal, and can be sent to other endpoints at the customers request.
This provides complete transparency of flight data for supporting flight operations with continuous improvement, auditing, efficient processes and quick access to historic flight information.
The dispatcher is also made aware of the sign-off with a status update. If there is no internet connection, the pilot can still sign-off the flight and the information will sync once a connection is established.
Certain information is automatically carried over to the next sector, such as Previous Landing Fuel.
A digital Journey Log significantly simplifies the process, offering instant access to crucial flight data that the team can immediately review post-flight.
