Last-minute changes in aviation (LMC) refer to any adjustments made to the aircraft's weight and balance calculations shortly before departure.
These changes could include alterations to the number of passengers, cargo, baggage or fuel onboard the aircraft.
Last-minute changes may occur due to various factors, such as changes in passenger bookings, adjustments to cargo loading, or updates to fuel requirements based on changing weather conditions or air traffic constraints.
It is vitally important that any LMC require pilots to recalculate the aircraft's weight and balance, to ensure it remains within certified limits for safe flight operations.
However, manually recalculating this data can be time-consuming and prone to errors, which is risky especially under pressure or tight time constraints!

Introducing the digital LMC aviation calculator, a component of the skybook electronic flight bag tools section...
A game-changing tool that allows pilots to quickly calculate last minute changes of any extra or reduced load, and instantly see the impact of weight & balance, without the need to generate a new loadsheet.
A key benefit of the LMC calculator is being able to handle last-minute changes with ease! Whilst providing extra revenue opportunities, allowing airlines to reasonably include additional luggage or cargo, within safe parameters.
The skybook EFB will automatically recalculate changes to the weight and index value, set within the predefined aircraft limitations. If a weight limit specific to the aircraft type is ever breached, or the maximum allowable change reached, pilots will instantly see the warning.
This streamlined process saves valuable time during pre-flight changes and ensures that the aircraft's weight and balance remain within safe limits.
The calculations from the last minute changes are also added to our digital Center of gravity calculator and flight envelope. This innovative EFB tool is used to ensure the aircrafts weight is within the safety range of the flight envelope.
Using the CG calculator pilots can easily perform final zero fuel weight and final takeoff weight calculations, which includes the LMC weight and LMC index.
The centre of gravity envelope graph is configured based on each aircrafts exact safety requirements.
The last minute change calculator offers enhanced functionality compared to manual methods. Providing pilots with the flexibility to easily move passengers or hand luggage to specific rows, or cargo to certain compartments.
Each type of aircraft has its own set of last minute change limitations. The skybook ground portal enables operators to configure the exact LMC weight parameters, specific to the aircraft or entire fleet.
Moreover, flight operations can access the calculated LMC information via the flight summary section, this integration further enhances safety and efficiency.
By seamlessly sharing data from the electronic flight bag, this ensures consistency and accuracy across flight operations. Allowing for informed reporting, analysis and making auditing easy with stored data for up to 5 years.
Last minute changes to weight calculations are a common occurrence in aviation, requiring pilots to quickly adapt and recalculate weight and balance parameters to ensure safe flight operations.
The LMC calculator is an indispensable electronic flight bag feature, offering airlines a faster and more accurate way to handle last-minute changes, and provide extra revenue opportunities.
