Celebrating the achievements of colleagues, whether they be internal or external accomplishments, is always a great feeling. That is why we are proud to be able to share that our Customer Account Manager, Sean, has recently taken part in Prostate Cancer UK’s ‘Cycle the Month’ initiative.
The initiative that ran throughout May encouraged cyclists to ride 100 miles in a month, to raise awareness and help fund lifesaving research to beat prostate cancer – the most common cancer in men.
When speaking to Sean about the challenge he was certainly fired up:
“I took it [the challenge] one step further and challenged myself to ride 550 miles in the month. Why 550 I hear you ask? I had only cycled 544 miles in the previous 12 months, so I thought it would be a good challenge to try and beat that in one month.”
“I joined 6459 cyclists across the UK and together we clocked up 482,896 miles raising £1,315,441 in the process. I contributed 554 miles and £640 to this total. The challenge has now closed, and the charity have announced a final donation amount - however my Just Giving page does remain live until the end of June.”
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with 1 in 8 men being diagnosed in their lifetime and more than 129 men being diagnosed across the UK every day. Many men living with prostate cancer may never need treatment due to the slow growth of the cancer; however, some prostate cancer grows more quickly increasing the likelihood of it spreading and requiring treatment. That is why raising awareness and money to help aid research is so vital.
On behalf of Keyzo and the Team we would like to say a huge well done to Sean for rising to the challenge and raising money for such a great cause, we’re proud to have you as part of our team and support your endeavour!
